Ishilla is a nonbinary artist, born in 1996, Warsaw, Poland, living and working in London, UK since 2016. They graduated from BA (Hons) Finer Art Mixed Media at University of Westminster, London, in 2021. Their work focuses on adopting a traditional aesthetic, using oil paint and other mediums as fluid, visceral, malleable materials to create illusion.
Their work explores transgressive and commonly uncomfortable subjects connected to definitions of beauty, queerness, fluidity, irony, the grotesque and eastern European culture. They are interested in both seduction and the abject and using paint to create aqueous, bodily implications - but also as a heavy, fleshy material.
