Artist Statement
Terty9photography was born out of random events that brought random passions together as random as the number Terty9 (39 in English)
My name is Marvin but most people call me Marvellous!
I started on this amazing journey as a photographer of graffiti. I'd take my camera to various spots in the UK and around the world from London to Hastings, from Stockholm to Tokyo I'd follow the various expressions of the arts!
During this journey I fell in love with the colours, shades, lights and interpretations of what the eye can see and how different people view them. I started to notice during my editing my mind's eye would take a project in a different direction to what was originally there.
I love to shoot the angles of how I think the subject may be viewed at a certain point in time. For example close your eyes and imagine you have just finished shopping in a store. You step out of the door way and now tell me what's the first thing your eyes are drawn to? We are all drawn to different things! Maybe we need to catch a bus and that's our focus or our phone as we are checking for the message from the friend we are meant to meet or the woman in the red dress with the green hair!
I really enjoy working on different projects relating to different subjects such as culture, movement, personal journeys or sometimes just things!
Terty9photography is forever growing, exploring, steering the viewer in directions they have somehow forgotten! No matter what I shoot or how I shoot it I want the viewer to see and try to understand it from a Terty9photography point of view!
